St. Patrick's Day

Owen celebrated by going for his third doctors visit.  We had gone for a two day check up and he weighed in at 7 pounds 2 ounces, placing him in the 31st percentile.  He had lost 6 ounces, which was completely normal.  And everything else looked good.  They wanted to see him back that Saturday to check weight, and by then, he had already gained back his 6 ounces.  He's a good eater!

March 17th was Owen's two week check-up and circumcision.  Considering the way he celebrated his first St. Patty's day, he won't think getting pinched is all that bad.  Poor little guy!  He was a little cranky the next two days, but who could blame him.  The Doctor told us that by two weeks they like to see babies back to their birth weight.  Well, our little man is quite the over-achiever!

Two Week Check-Up

Age: 16 days

Weight: 9 lbs 7 oz  (63 percentile)

Height: 21.5 inches  (74 percentile)

Head Circumference: 38 cm  (71 percentile)

The boys recuperating.

Newborn Photo Shoot Part 2

Our friend Ali is starting a photography business and graciously offered to take a few shots of Owen.  We jumped at the offer!  She and her amazing assistant, Lora, were great to work with.  And, as you can see, Ali is super talented.  Enjoy!

Thanks again Ali, we LOVE them!

1st trip to the City of Gardens

We experienced the entire circle of life within a few short days and were reminded just how precious this life is.  Owen was born on the first and Nate's Grandmother, Jean, passed away on the third.  Her life was certainly well lived.  She was greatly loved and respected by so many.  All you have to do is look at her amazing family to see what a wonderful mother and grandmother she was.

Jean and Fielding on vacation with Nate and his family.
We were fortunate to be able to make the trip to Garden City for Jean's funeral.  Owen met his aunts and uncles, cousins, and many second cousins too.  He was also able to meet the man he was named after, his great grandpa Fielding.

The weekend was full of emotion, but it truly was a celebration of life.

Owen is going to have so much fun with Tessa and Max.  They are all just 9 months apart.  He can't wait to visit again.  This was the first of many trips to Garden City.

Happy Birthday Papa!

Nate turned 28 on March 6th.  Getting closer and closer to 30.  Yikes!  We were en route to Garden City on his birthday, but he's far too special to let his day get lost in the shuffle.  We celebrated the next week with smoothies (he's a healthy one).  Here he is opening presents.

Owen gave his papa Bambi to enjoy on his new Blu Ray player.  They can't wait to watch it together.  Hopefully he likes animated movies as much as his father.

And since this post is in honor of my dear husband.  We may as well showcase his recent handiwork.  Owen was SO excited when he saw everything his papa made for him.

Hopefully Owen will get his wood-working skills from his father.

Happy Birthday Nate, we love you!!

Newborn Photo Shoot Part 1

Hospitals have really upped the ante when it comes to newborn photo shoots.   I think my single photo was taken with a blue plastic backdrop.  The photographer (undercover in scrubs) dropped in on Wednesday morning and asked if we wanted his picture taken.  We're excited new parents so, of course, we agree.  We also agree to purchase the entire CD of pictures, though Nate reminds me what we do for the first, we will have to do for all.  I agree.  Clearly neither of us were the prized first child.
They didn't tell me that we were going to be part of the photo shoot, which is why I have wet hair.  Oh well, I think it adds to that "tired new mom" look that I was going for.
