My avid readers may have noticed a slight absence.

I apologize.  I promise to catch up.  I have a few pretty special birthdays to talk about.

I'll be sure to back date, per usual.

That way, years from now, we will all forget that I am a huge slacker.

Though I will say, in my defense, the weekends have been busy celebrating said birthdays.

And as for the work week?

When you hug a keyboard the majority of the day,

it's hard to hug one at night too.

Especially when you have better ways to spend your time.

And we all know I'm not talking about laundry or taxes.

I am talking about the cutest, funniest, sweetest little boy...

in my completely unbiased opinion, of course.

So, in an effort to be a little more customer-focused, I have added Instagram pictures along the right side of the screen.  That way, friends and fam without this gem of an app can see pics before they are two months old.

My readers deserve much better.  All 7 of you.

Hawaii

Dearest Owen - 

We did it.  We left you.  A whole week.  You spent time with both sets of grandparents 

and had so much fun.  I thought "goodbye" was going to be terrible, but you just wanted to play with your grandma.  You smiled and waved and it wasn't bad at all.  

We had the most amazing trip.
And though Maui looks a little different than GC and A-Town,
it sounds like you had a pretty nice vacation too!

And you should know, you were the only reason we were ready to come home.  It was so, so good to see you!  And hug you!  And kiss you!  And kiss you some more!

Yes and No

"Are you hungry?"

"Yes and no."

"Do you want to play with your toys?"

"Yes and no."

"Are you tired?"

"Yes and no."

Sometimes we get "yes".  Sometimes we get "no".

And sometimes when we ask O questions, we get "yes and no".

I  laugh every time. 

What does this mean, Owen?

Maybe.  

Possibly.

It's complicated.

It depends.

Potentially.  

Well, as Nate and I talked about taking a vacation without Owen, 

I started to relate to this little saying a whole lot more.  

I knew I wanted to go.  

I knew we would have so much fun.

I knew he would be cared for.

I knew flying 10-ish hours with him would by misery.  For all involved.

But, I just felt so bad leaving him.  

Would the poor little lad feel abandoned 

without his momma or daddy for a whole week?

If you were to ask me if I was excited to go to Hawaii,

my answer would have definitely been,

"yes and no".

Go K-State

A few months back, Owen perfected his "go K-State" chant when prompted.

It then extended to every time he saw a football field or basketball court.

And now, every time he sees a powercat.

He prefers his "go K-State" clothes, which only consist of two shirts and a pair of pants.

When we do laundry mid-week, he ends up in purple almost everyday.

I was sure to tell his teacher about the obsession, just so she doesn't think we're crazy.

She still probably thinks we're crazy.

Imagine the boy's excitement when he got to see his grandparents 

and lots of powercats all in one day!?!?

We hadn't been to the Octagon of Doom since last season.

And back then, Owen slept through most the game.

I knew that probably wouldn't happen this year.

Three generations of wildcats.

Owen stayed entertained for a while, but by the second half, he needed to walk a bit. 

And, judging from all the other parents and toddlers strolling around the concourse, he wasn't the only one.   Between my love of people watching and Owen, I don't tend to watch much of the games.  

But, I do know K-State won, and I think they played well.

0 nap + lots of walking + lots of cheering = 1 tired boy

Our little wildcat was knocked out before we hit the highway.

Such a fun day.  

Go K-State!

Snow Day

A few weeks ago we got a bit of snow.

Luckily, this time it was warm enough to play in it.

And by warm, I mean freeeezing cold.  

But, compared to 2 degrees, 30 is warm...er.

Aunt Angela recently loaned us boots and snow pants.

They worked perfectly.

His coat is hiding it, but those snow pants make Owen look quite curvaceous. 

Can you call a boy curvaceous?

About the time Nate and I were ready to head inside, O drug us over to the park.  

I am sure our neighbors thought we were crazy.

I wouldn't call us crazy, but we are pushovers.

A boy can have his pick of any swing in the park on a snow day. 

Not sure how he ended up with the big boy swing?

Growing up way too fast!

And though he doesn't answer my questions on video.  He's since watched this nearly 50 times.

And every time he confirms that, yes, he does like the snow.
