Bed Head

Owen's hair has sprouted in quite nicely.

He had it when he was born.  Lost it.  Then it came back.

Lots on top and little scraggly patches on the sides.

Not sure we're ready for that first haircut just yet.

But it does get a bit wild...especially in the morning and after naps.

Not to worry, we decrustify his nose and smooth his hair before going out in public.

Christmas List

Dear Santa,

I know it's early, but I thought I should get my order in.
Just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know what I'm loving lately.

Boxes are the best.  I love pounding on them and pushing them around.

If you go to a Pampered Chef party, keep me in mind.

Pots make the best noise.

A newspaper can entertain me for a solid 10 minutes.

I just love thrashing it around.

Tearing and crumpling the paper is also a pretty good time.

Love shaking bags (while supervised of course).

Don't worry, I do have real toys too.

But nothing entertains me more than getting into something I shouldn't.
I guess all you really need to know is that I've been a good boy.  I promise.

I look forward to meeting you.
Can't wait for my very first Christmas!
Lots of Love,
Owen

Crawler Pics

 Sorry that took so long.

But, as promised, pictures of our little crawler.

 He's a determined little fella.

And despite that cute little smile,
he gets a little peeved when you get in his way.

Oh, and he's standing too.

What has happened to my baby!?

Crawler

It's official.  We have a crawler!  He has been so close for so long.
Yesterday morning he was super close
& then he finally did it while Grandma was babysitting yesterday afternoon.

I have no idea why we have encouraged this!
We put him in the living room, turn around, and he's back in the kitchen.
Definitely need to do a little lot of baby proofing this weekend!

Pictures to follow.  We have video, but apparently it's not compatible with my computer.  Of course.

Labor Day Weekend

 Owen's first football game!

We went to Manhattan on Saturday.  It wasn't until Council Grove that I turned on my camera to see that the battery was dead.  And no charger.

Sorry, Owen.

You drew the short end of the stick when it comes to prepared mommas.

But, thanks to my cell phone and Facebook (thanks Vanessa).  We have a few pics of this "first".

O

He had fun.  Liked watching all the people, but then fell asleep in the second quarter.
I've heard that pretty much everyone else did too.
Even though it wasn't the most exciting game, the Cats did pull off a victory.

We went to Wamego after the game and got a chance to stay with Travis and Jamie.  Sunday we all met Brian for lunch at Doughboys (old Gumbies).  No Pokey Sticks, but their cheesy version seemed adequate.  We got to see Brian's new apartment.  Pretty sure Owen's stroller was the first to ever wheel it's way through those sticky hallways.  The apartment's nice, but it's in Aggieville.
Let's just say Owen will never be allowed to live there.
Mostly because he will never be allowed to leave me.
:)

We had lots of fun with my bros and Jamie.  Definitely need to see them more.

Monday we were pretty lazy and it was glorious.

After a little maintenance,

We went to the park.

And guess who tried out the swing set?

This guy.

Loved it.

Such a big boy!

I wish all weekends were three days.

Love spending time with these boys.

Food

This has been the typical sight in our house any given weekday morn.

Papa gives Owen a bottle and they take in a little Sports Center.

But Owen decided he wanted to make a change.

He said, "Momma, milk just isn't enough anymore."

And I said, "Well son, we will have to try big boy food."

We tried rice cereal and he got lots of red blotchy spots.
So we went on to oatmeal.
At first he didn't know what to think.  But later decided he liked it.
Especially when we smash a little nanner in there too.

We did oatmeal for a few weeks and have now added veggies.

Sweet potatoes & squash.

Next week we'll try carrots and peas and then fruit and then who knows what from there.

So exciting!  And so messy.

The only thing he hasn't liked so far is formula.  He gags.  And from the smell of it, I can't really blame him.  But when our milk supply runs low, we've had to mix in a little.  He knows something is different, but at least he doesn't gag.  It must be an acquired taste.
Other than that, he's really a good eater.  But I'm sure you can see that for yourself.

:)
