Mr. Owl

Our little Owl enjoyed his first Halloween.

He dropped in at the middle school party next door to show off his costume
and say hi to the girls.
He then went trick-or-treating around the cul-de-sac and picked up
a hershey bar and a bag of m&m's.

He slobbered all over them.
They ended up in our candy dish.
They were accidentally re-gifted.
Oops.

The old folks came over to share in the fun.
We feasted on chili and enjoyed all the little kiddos that came by.
Except the one that took 4 handfuls of candy.
:)

Mr Owl,

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

If Owen is now able to answer this, Grandma will be in BIG trouble.

Halloween was lots of fun this year with our little owl.
I got a wild hair and decided to construct his costume.
Not sure if I will make it a tradition or not.
I'm guessing there are only so many things you can make without sewing.

Nate was sure to point out that the costume was worn for just about two hours.
It took slightly longer to cut & Stitch-Witch all 70-ish feathers.

He better be careful with his comments,
I might just Stitch-Witch him an owl romper for next year.

First Loss

Owen experienced his first K-State football loss.

Well, kind of.

He and I ventured up with granny and gramps to watch K-State play OU.

We left Nate at home to work.

Tailgating was fun.

And somehow he was worn out by the time the game started.

But, thankfully, we had volunteer babysitters on hand.

So while the rest of us had to experience the beat down,
Owen got to play with Jamie and Summer.

And we did see the entire beat down.  These super fans won't leave one second early.

Cold(s)

 This is completely natural.

I promise.

Owen's a crazy sleeper.  Sitting up, nose diving back down, digging his head into the bumper.  So I think that combination creates this crazy do.

On a completely different note...
The doctor told us that since Owen goes to daycare, we could expect him to have a cold on and off his first year (thanks doc, as if I don't feel guilty already).  And with the weather getting colder, his nose has gotten snottier.

So we have become accustomed to dealing with it in his nose, but this eye cold he developed threw us for a loop.  You know the "sleep" that's in your eyes when you wake up?  Well imagine that times 10 all day long.  You wipe it away and magically, it reappears.  The camera doesn't quite do it justice, but you can see what I'm talking about.

I am happy to report he survived his first eye cold.  The eyes are finally back to normal, no longer puffy and red.  And best of all, they are gunk free!  But, now he's coughing (and so am I).  It's looking like the doc is right.  So until his slobbery friends at daycare decide to keep their germs to themselves, I guess we will just be strengthening our immune systems this winter.

 It's a fairly decent trade-off.
I would gladly sneeze and cough all day to hang out with his guy.

Happy 7 months!

So, let's be honest.
My mom has really dropped the ball on this whole blog thing.

She has a million excuses.
And it is partly my fault too.

I am just so darn cute and fun, that she can't get anything done when she's home.
So I figured I'd help her out and take it upon myself to catch everyone up.
Here goes...

I am as curious as ever.  Into everything.  And I don't sit still for long.

I made a great new friend.   Looks just like me.
Sometimes we like to sit and talk.

I'm still a little jabber box.  Maamama, daadaadaa & baababa...that's pretty much it.

I eat oatmeal for breakfast.  Veggies & fruit at lunch.
And then veggies, fruit, and sometimes oatmeal in the evening.
I still have about 4 bottles a day.

I crawl all over and can stand up too.  I like to look around.

I'm a little unsure of how to get back down from standing,
but after hovering for a little while, I get low enough and plop my way to the ground.

And then I stand right back up.

I wave my hands at people.  They wave back.
Not sure what it means yet, but it's fun.

I clap too.  It gets Mom and Dad really excited...you should see their goofy faces when I clap.

I am still wearing size 4 diapers.
I'm a holy terror to change.

Don't like to lay still...not even when I've made a huge diaper.
Sure makes things fun for the rents.

I still sleep all night and am down to just one nap in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Did I mention I don't sit still?

I smile alot.  It helps me get all the girls.
The ladies at daycare love me.
They call me a flirt, but I don't know where they get that idea.

 I'm wearing 12 month clothing.

Check out my thighs.  Thick, huh?
Well, they are ticklish too.

Still no teeth!

They've blamed many runny noses and fussy days on teething, but I've still got nothing to show for it.

I think Mom is going to have to rethink her blanket pics...I made it a little challenging for her.

Lots and lots of pictures, and we came out with one good blanket shot.

Happy 7 months to me!

Love,
Owen
