Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated the day with church.

Met up with Granny, Gramps, and Brian and (over) endulged in the Granite City brunch buffet.

Went to my very first basketball game.  Got to watch Papa and a bunch of other old guys beat down on a team of young guys.   Hopefully I get more of Dad's skills than Mom's.

Gave Dad the day off from diaper duty.  Sorry Mom.

I hand-made a card and got him a brand new basketball.

Just a small thank to an amazing father.

Great day.

Even better dad.  Happy Father's Day!
Love, Owen

Sick Baby

Pretty much the worst thing ever.

Owen started to get congested on Monday.  People told me it was teething, but it continued to get worse.

By Wednesday, I got a call from day-care, the poor boy was running a temperature.
When I went to pick him up, I could hear him crying from down the hall.
But he couldn't even cry well, he was so congested.
I trucked him into Walgreen's and preceded to pick up everything anyone had suggested to me.
We ventured home and continued to suck more and more snot from his little nose.
The nasal aspirator is definitely Owen's worst enemy.

Nate stayed home on Thursday and took Owen into the Doctor.
We must have called them three different times before they told us to just bring him in.
Oh first-time parents, I am sure we are annoying.
It's just terrible when the poor little guy can't tell you what's wrong.
I can't imagine what it would be like if we had to face worse than a cold.
We are so blessed to have a healthy baby.

He has rebounded fairly quickly and is smiling again!
He still has congestion and a little cough.
In addition to the humidifier, Nate developed his own system that works a bit better.
Each morning he sits Owen in his highchair and scoots him into the bathroom.
He turns on the shower, gets some good steam going, and closes the door (with the baby inside).
After a few minutes of this and a little saline in the nose, it is amazing what we can get out of this little guy.
I had no idea little boys could be so snotty.
I just wonder what he thinks as he hangs out in the steam filled bathroom.
"My parents are crazy."

Someone Needs A Baby Doll

Travis, Jamie, and Summer took a trip to A-town!  We hadn't seen them since Owen was just a few days old.

Summer is such a good little momma.
She even has all of our baby gear in a smaller version.
Diaper bag, stroller, changing pad...the girl has it all.
The only difference between her and us is that she actually remembers it all when she travels.
Like I said, she's a great momma.
She loved holding Owen.

We had a great time hanging out with them!
After I look through the pictures, I can't help but wonder.
Who needs a baby doll more?

But for now, we are happy to share.

Reunited

And it felt SO good.

You may be a bit lost.  Let me back up.
I had been planning to run in the River Run for the past few months and had already done a little "training" when we found out that Aunt Angela and Cousin Max were making a trip back to GC.  We didn't want to miss a chance to see them, but I also didn't want to skip out on the run.  Original plan was to wait until after the run Saturday morning and then go.  But when we found out we needed to bring a truck back to the farm and would be driving separate anyway, Nate decided to baby-nap little O and go on Friday night.

:(

I never thought I would be one of "those" moms.  Just one night, not a big deal, right?  That's exactly what I would have thought pre-baby.  Post-baby, it was a bit sad.  But, the time flew right by.  I met the boys at day-care over lunch on Friday to kiss good-bye, ran errands after work, and then woke up bright and early on Saturday for the big run.  I ran the 10k with my friend Ali (she's an awesome blogger who actually stays current with the times, rather than catching up a month in one night like some people we know) and helped organize a group form the Boys and Girls Club to run the 2-mile.

We survived!  I celebrated with a super value meal from Mickey D's on my way to GC to reunite with my boys.

We had lots of fun with Nate's family.  The most exciting news of the weekend, this little guy is going to be a BIG brother.  SO exciting.  Congrats Mike and Ange!!

Happy 3 months, Owen!

Mr. Personality!  You are full of smiles.  Of course you have your moments, but really not too often.
We have no comparison, but everyone tells us you are such a happy baby.
They tell us how lucky we are.

We know.

You are changing more and more each day.

Your belly is getting a little more proportional to the rest of your body.

You are wearing 6-9 month clothes and size 2 diapers.

See the rolls on those chunky little legs?  You collect lint in there.

Drooling like crazy and starting to chew on anything you can get your hands on.

You have such high squeals when you get excited

and you still love to jabber.

Not sitting up just yet,

but getting stronger on your tummy.

You have brought such joy to our lives.

Love.  Love.  Love.

We love you SO much.

Happy 3 months!
